Tim Delaney: Basic hostel located just a few blocks from the main plaza. The rooms are very simple. I had a private room with a private bath. The were no windows and felt damp inside. The common areas are open and spacious and the upper patio is a must see during sunset. The staff were very friendly and translated in english very well. The breakfast is basic, day old bread with butter and jam and a cup of coffee or tea. Better to go outside for a full meal.

Friendly staff.We were cold during our stay. The breakfast only had two options. Our room and bathroom could have been cleaner. They didn't clean our room and we stayed 4 days there. We paid a whole day even though we arrived at 5 in the morning. For what is was we would expect a cheaper price.

Manly Matt Schulman: Highly recommended. Although almost every hotel we stayed in on our Peru trip was a Casa Andina property, this was the best of them. The location is close enough to the center of town to be easily walkable, but out of its busiest area. It is beautiful and welcoming, and the staff was helpful and polite. As a side note, we came with rudimentary Spanish, but didn't need it here -- the staff's English was far better than our Spanish. The breakfast was impressive, even including a pleasant performance by a local musician. Our room was spotless and comfortable, and they even included a little nosh as a treat for our anniversary. Certainly a fine place to stay when you visit Arequipa.

In the afternoon I wanted to pay the room but then they told me I have to pay 150 dollars which is not okay. I think they knew that there were less free rooms in total in the hotels in the city center but it is really not okay to double the price within some hours.

I arrived very early in the morning (emailed and called beforehand to inform them of this) and I was knocking for 30 minutes, in the cold, before opening the door. Then this dude had the audacity to get an attitude with me because I kept ringing the doorbell. We argued for 15 minutes in the street simply because he wanted to be right about how I was waking everyone up ringing the doorbell. I told him the solution to that is pretty clear: open the door. I told him off and please believe, that if I wasn't a single female alone in a foreign country at 5am on a cold street, I most definitely would have punched that little b**** in the throat. The other dude (Brazilian) that works there is cool af, though. He's the reason I stayed.

Cristina Vukic: One of the best hostels in Peru. I love the way the beds have a curtain, it gives you a sense of space and privacy that is not that common. Location is great and price is even better. Without doubt one of the best breakfasts I’ve had in hostels. I will highly recommend staying at Way Kap!
