Free walking tours Arequipa: what do users think?
Cristina Terenziani: I stumbled across the meeting point of this free walking tour and I was greeted with enthusiasm by Yasmany who, speaking very good English, accompanied us around the city and answered all our questions in a kind and precise way... it was a very nice experience! highly recommended!!
Elise Halstensen: Very nice tour and a knowledgable guide! We got to see a lot of the city and got many tips for what to do and where to eat!👍🏻
Philipp Kleindienst: Great tour with a lot of informations!Such a nice guy! Makes a lot of fun!
Arkaixo: The worst tour company I have found in Peru. We agreed to make the visit in Spanish, we started with the group in English. Supposedly the guide would arrive in the language that we had been told. Finally we did not do the tour in our language and the tour from my point of view left a lot to be desired.Bad experience that made me lose much of the time I had to enjoy this city. I don't like my time being played with and this tour company did just that. Not recommendable!!!
Michael O'Neill: Great walking tour this morning with Joan!
Juankar Delba: With the illusion of touring a city as beautiful as Arequipa and being told its history, we signed up for the tour on August 20, 2022. It would be bad luck, I suppose, but we were guided by the worst guide that we have had in the 20 days What we have been through in Peru. Uninteresting route not subject to what was advertised on the web, inappropriate comments without coming to the point, and without waiting for the whole group to explain things. To such an extent, that he lost us halfway through the visit. At the exit of a terrace where we watched the sunset, when we arrived at the square, the group had disappeared, leaving us without finishing the tour. Bad guide. Bad route. Bad experience.
Franck VIEIRA: A really great expérience with John ! He show and explain us a lot of Things about Arequipa !Thanks again for the tour !! :)
Melissa huarcaya: Very bad! We contacted them to book the tour and on both occasions, despite the fact that we were on time according to the agreed time, they said that they had already left. We told them that we would catch up with them at the next point, but they weren't there either.
Emmeline B.: Amazing walking tour in Arequipa with Gabriel our knowledgeable and friendly guide! Highly recommended for good informations about the history of the city and Peru, but also good addresses for Peruvian specialities. Feliz Navidad Gabriel and thank you again for your sympathy !
Esther Martinez Soriano: The tour was great, Gaby the guide showed me as many monuments and neighborhoods as he told me stories. He told me about food, customs, legends, Quechua words and their meanings, offerings, etc. Totally recommended. Better attitude, impossible!!
eider galdos: A very complete tour in which you discover many corners of the city. Gabi, the friendly, attentive and fun guide. We finish in apicanteria where we taste the flavors of Arequipa. Totally recommended.
Anastasia Staz: We were delighted by this tour with Gabriel which was the nicest and most knowledgeable person, we highly recommend this tour.
Harvey Williams: Highly recommended tour. The guide was very knowledgeable about the history of the city and could also answer all of my questions with an easily understandable accent. He also had a clear idea about what tourists want to know about the city, such as where to buy cheaper souvenirs, where the best local food is, or where the best ATMs to withdraw money are.The tour lasted around 3 hours.
mikcao Miranda: Unique experience with the guides of Arequipa
Jette Hattstein: I took the best tour of my life just 1 hour after my arrival. It was a small group of 3 people with a spectacular guide. I had not thought that I am going to know so many things about Arequipa the same day of my arrival but that's the way it is. We went through the oldest neighborhoods, we tried typical Arequipa things like coffee, ice cream cheese and chicha and we learned a lot about the history of Arequipa. All on a nice sunny day.Free Walking Tour Arequipa: perfect to get to know the city and much more!
Andrea Bustinza Giraldo: Amazing tour with Gabriel and Friends
Elena Turrisi: Gabo was a very good guide today. We toured the market, the central squares, we tasted food and drink, we saw alpacas.
Angelina Canepa: This was an OK walking tour. I have taken others in Peru that provided a lot more information. I felt like this one brought you to places and just said "OK, this is the place. You can come back later if you want." I wish they went to fewer places and provided a bit more information. Also, our group was huge but we had two tour guides. I wish they had split the group in two and had one guide for each group. Our guide was nice and exciting though.
Ian Barber: Gabriel was very informative, and took us to places we would not have found. Well worth the time.

Miguel Angel Alvarez: The Monastery keeps a part of the history of Arequipa from the viceregal era until the previous century, you can appreciate what the life of the religious women of that time was like. The buildings, paintings and objects are of high historical value, pride for the Arequipeños and Peruvians who have visited
Andrew Betts: Superbly preserved, and well explained in Spanish and English throughout. Took us 90 minutes, self guided. Huge.Visited on Weekday Wait time No wait Reservation recommended No …More
Philip Attukadavil: A wonderful must see place in Arequipa. An ancient but elegant monument, worth visiting. One of my favorite places in Arequipa
Manuel Martin: Must visit if you are in Arequipa

German Jesus Zapata: If or if take some time to visit this place.
JANNE POVIS: !! Y sacas buenas fotitos de recuerdo !!!(Translated by Google
Piero Alarcon: Spectacular!! As everyone says, if you go to Arequipa this is a point that you should go to anyway!
Ornella: Molto suggestivo.
Daniela Diazgranados Ortiz: Beautiful place full of stories and culture, the only bad thing was that a guide was not very friendly, so we decided to do the tour without a guide
Senna: A great way to spend a few hours of your day, and an absolute recommendation for Antigua. The monastery is very big, and there are signs in almost every room explaining the significance of certain tools/spaces in English and Spanish. I would say you won't necessarily need a tour if you search for the info signs. The colours are lovely, and it's just beautiful all around. Perfect place to learn some history.Only downside were the prices, they are quite high at 45PEN for an adult.

PATTY CH.A.: It is a mystical and very beautiful place. Our Peru 100pre has something that surprises us.I recommend that you go and remember that every day we learn something 100pre.
Ornella: Da vedere assolutamente. Oltre alla Vergine, molti manufatti perfettamente conservati.Ottima guida.

Neshama Rakofsky: Definitely recommend this tour. We did the tour in English with a fantastic guide named Maria. Super interesting artifacts and the stories are just incredible. Maria was so knowledgeable and welcoming of questions, she is so passionate about the information it's more like listening to a story than to a guided museum tour. The whole thing only takes about 45 mins. I'm not generally a tour OR museum person, but I actually enjoyed this. Great experience
María Luz Marín: I loved the detailed and precise information from the guide. We learned a lot about child sacrifice in ancient Peru and the circumstances in which Juanita was found. A recommendation, the place is kept cold to preserve the archaeological remains and even more so in the section where Juanita is. Bring something to cover yourself with. It is forbidden to take photos or record videos inside the exhibition halls.
Gomez Addams: Only let you enter if you sign up for a guided tour which I was uninterested in. For such a small museum it hardly seems necessary. So, no, I’ll pass.
María Belén Chipana: Excellent! 5 national soles, over five years old pay 3 soles for the entrance and voluntary tip to the guide. Everything on display is original and we were lucky to see the Juanita mummy. Can't take photos
mahdy faiz: The museum is small but have one mummy and only few things worth seeing. However, you can only visit with a guide (additional fee on top of the 25 sol entrance). The guided tour feels rushed and you cannot always hear the guide well enough. Not worth the time nor money
Luke Costa: A lot of negative reviews on here regarding the cost etc which almost made us not go. However, we are glad we did.Firstly, the reason it's cheaper for Peruvians is because it's their heritage, and its only right that its cheaper for them.Secondly, we were sceptical about the guide, however it really enhanced the experience. They covered all the areas of information that were written around artefacts and also gave additional info. The tip is at your discretion as well.Would 100% recommend, incredibly interesting and informative.
Pascal Burgard: Expensive relative to the wealth of information provided. I really expected to learn much more in this museum.
Mark Webster: Really disappointing. As mentioned in other reviews it’s compulsory to have a guided tour. When we arrived and were told this we politely asked if we could go around without a guide. The man in the desk immediately ignored us and started talking to another couple behind us. Incredibly rude. Half the tour is a 20min video with terrible sound quality. The guided tour was rushed and ruined the experience.Note that the museum is sponsored by the Catholic university and is therefore biased. We recommend doing some Quechua guided tours to get the real local history before attending.
Randall Marx: Great place to visit if you have interest in archaeology or Incan culture. They offer tours in English and SpanishVisited on Weekend Wait time No wait Reservation recommended No …More
Edwin Aparicio: Visit the mummy Juanita
Juan Carlos Medina: Nice museum of the Santa María Catholic University, small but very interesting, the museum staff is super attentive and helpful, the guide is very charismatic and knowledgeable about the subject. Seeing the lady of Ampato is an incredible experience, it is worth the trip! The entrance for nationals is 5 soles. One block from the main square of Arequipa. Go on your visit to this beautiful city. Highly recommended!

Cathedral Museum: what do users think?
Julio C. Martinez Colarossi: The most beautiful and largest cathedral in Arequipa. God bless everyone who reads this review.
Andreé Galdos Segura: Of an imposing architect
Monica Rodriguez: It is a small museum with gold pieces and unique jewelry
Edith R Piñas Villalobos: Very good tour by Rodrigo, the cathedral is very beautiful, it houses pieces of great historical and religious value, the pelican made of silver, the organ and the bells.
Elizabeth Abregu: A very interesting museum, the cost is 10 soles, the tour is quite fast, the best thing is that you have access to the roof, the views from there are spectacular.
Marc Buckens: Very good guide
Sam: Great idea to do if you are in Arequipa.General overview:Center of the city. Gives you a view of the cathedral when it’s closed to the public. So less people.A tour around the museum looking at old religious bits. Fairly interestingThe history of the earthquake that meant they had to rebuild some of the church.Rooftop view of the city and the 3 volcanos.Practical bits:Cash only tickets 10sol per personAlso strong recommended that you pay the guide - others have said 5 sol. We have 5USD for two, as we did not have any sol at the time.(they make a bit of a point about saying they are not paid, and rely on tips)If you get a good guide, which we did, and just 4 of us in the group. Really good tour.Recommended even just for the roof top views!
Eder Kong: All very nice, the paintings the view of the square, the entrance fee of 10 soles does not include the guide, since it is supposedly voluntary, but in the end the guide charges you 10 soles per family.
David Yaka: Nice tour to the cathedral museum and very friendly guides
Williams Henry Rojas Holguin: Visited on Weekday Wait time Up to 10 min Reservation recommended NoMore
Paulo Béjar: The best to visit, it is worth the 10 soles. You can see quite a few religious pieces and the guides are super friendly...
zoraibert noriega: It is a mandatory stop when visiting the city of Arequipa. They charge the entrance, plus a mandatory tip of your choice that you must give to the tour guide at the end of the tour.It lasts approximately 45 minutes, and they give you time to take some photos during the tour, except in two rooms where it is prohibited. The cathedral is very beautiful and the guide seemed prepared, they give details of both the architecture and the liturgical objects and their history. At the end you have an open view of the historical center of the city, and the square from the roof of the cathedral.
ClauDia FernanDa: Beautiful and imposing cathedral, the guides are very friendly, they have knowledge of languages for foreigners. Tours end at 4:15 pm, tours can last up to 40 minutes.
Magdalena Abarca: The place is wonderful, but it could have many more and better explanations in case you don't go with a guide.
Adeodato sisnepiuqera: It's great and at a good price... It's a must
Yorman Quiroz: Excellent architectural design and can also be visited at any time of the year and everything is safe.
Julioh Delgadoz: Recommended, visit the museum of the cathedral of the white city, Arequipa
Sebastián Narváez: Very good experience to learn about the Minor Basilica of Arequipa, the guide was well trained to explain each part of the temple and the museum in detail. The best of all is that you can visit the upper part of the temple obtaining a wonderful view of the Plaza Mayor and part of the White City, on the other hand, the cost of the entrance ticket does not include the payment of the guide, so at At the end of the tour you should be given a voluntary tip that will make us value and appreciate your work.
Thomas B: Nice tour guide. 10s entry then you should tip the guide. Annoying structure but beautiful views from top and interesting collection of pieces
