Peruvian Cooking Experience: what do users think?
Joost de Groot: Unfortunately, not a very good experience. The class started late. During the class “experience” it was not clear what was going to be cooked. No recipes were provided to the people participating. Following we solely needed to cut some food preparing for the cooking which was done by the instructor and not by the participants. Cooking techniques were not clear. The dishes were not tasteful. All in all a strange and disappointing experience.
Rik Kotter: We booked a cooking class this morning through our hostel that was supposed to be at 4pm (they also have an 11am option). However, slightly after 11am they called us to cancel our class. Since we're leaving tomorrow to Colca Canyon and the morning class has just started, that means we can't a cooking class anymore in Arequipa because of this cancellation.Although we would have still preferred the 4pm option, would they have communicated earlier that they would cancel it, we could've lived with the menu of the morning class, but not even that was possible now.And yes, we know today is the feast of Santa Rosa de Lima (a holiday), but that does not excuse the poor communication on their behalf.
Oli Theo: Schöne Erfahrung in toller Umgebung. Rundum gelungenes Programm.

Jonathan Bywaters: Great class! It was just us 2 but the teacher was really helpful and informative, they laid pout the table door us to eat our food and had prepped everything so we came in, learnt how to cut and then cook the food. it was delicious!Bi lingual teacher so we could have the lesson in English, really enjoyed it and look forward to making the dishes when we’re home with the instructions
Juliana Valdivia: It was a very interesting, fun and rich culinary experience. Very tasty Peruvian recipes.
Cristian Ortega Albornoz: Muy buena
Mikael D: We had a great experience where the head chef was patient and explained the dishes, the ingredients and their purpose. Really tasty food.
Kadri Haxhija: Tolle Erfahrung. Sehr nette Lehrerin!
Peter Wright: Fantastic experience. Ale was a very knowledgeable and fun host. Great company, food, atmosphere and taught in a manner that will be brought back to my kitchen.
Eloise Bluck-Madden: Had a great time and the Peruvian Cooking Experience and learned a lot about the history of the dishes and the area. The hotel and kitchen were beautiful and the host was friendly and helpful. The food was delicious, can't wait to try to recreate it at home
Merci beaucoup ! :)
maureen ba: First of all the activity started 15min late while we were asked to arrive 10 min in advance... Not nice.We did the Lomo saltado class, we were 3 people. We paid 75 soles each for 2 hours class. It went well, we did one small meal and then Lomo saltado. It was OK because the chef is really nice but if I have to rate the class, it was not the best.First of all the class lasted 1h45min and during it we ate the meal so we only cooked 1h15min maybe. It did not learn much as the was not technical part, it was really basic.I did not learn anything about Peruvian history or culture and the ingredient were basic, nothing so local.I spent a good moment thanks to the chef but honestly the class is disappointing.
Rebecca Law: The Andean menu food was tasty, but undercooked in order to rush us out. There was no explanation of the history or culture of the foods. Overpriced for what it was.
Hakim Benkara: The experience was excellent. Great staff, great recipes and a marvellous meal at the end!!
Christina Mastantuono: Amazing experience. A must try in Arequipa. Lady, the chef, is an angel and the food is great.
Erika Casa de Avila: A great activity ready for you wveryt day in Arequipa except Sundays.

Centro Cultural Peruano Norteamericano, Arequipa: what do users think?
oly Ccc: Very bad avia been topic
Edgard Alonso Andía Calderón: A good place to learn English and with excellent proposals for cultural activities.
Jose Miranda: I took my grandson Andersito to his English keys.
Allan Lopez: The best place to learn English.
Angel Mendoza: It is unfortunate that this institution provides a lousy quality of service in the virtual class modality. Today my wife tried to enter the classes at 7:15 p.m. and they did not let her enter until 7:35 p.m., losing much of the content. This, added to the previous cycles, where the teacher's audio had. low quality, show that this institution is not properly prepared for the products they offer. I will do the respective tests to present a formal complaint to INDECOPI. Students do not deserve this treatment.
Ronal: Of the worst.
Jos Hancco: In face-to-face the environments were good, in the 3 buildings, the classroom house has its cannon and computer. The teachers are very good and English is not heavy and they have been adapted online to make it interactive.
Kathie Ollachica Cabana: Good infrastructure. Excellent treatment.
Raquel De los Reyes Villegas: A disaster and inefficiency, it ended after so long because they keep changing books to delay the students and on top of that I've been waiting for my certificate for 7 months, I would never study at the cultural center again.
Alexis Bachoir: HORRIBLE! I paid a lot of money for a course that was not worth it at all, they did not send me the link of the classes several times, and they did not even return my money, nor recovery. Also, that communication is disgusting, everything is by mail, and sometimes it doesn't even arrive. Also, they do not have any platform to upload the material to study, retrograde methodology! I do not recommend this institute for nd.
Jazmin Sanca: They teach well, but not all teachers. Unfortunately, these months I have been dealing with teachers who had problems with internet connection almost every day. It was a disappointment.
yuliana brillante: It's great great
Pierina Estefani Coya T.방탄 소년단: My aunts studied in this place and they did very well, I will also study here, so I will enroll soon.
Jose Eduardo Aparicio: Well
Walter Díaz Cornejo: Good institute to learn to speak English, variety of hours, good local infrastructure, competitive prices, right in the center of Arequipa.
Diana Rojas: I studied English at this center and I thought it was a nice experience, I don't know what it will be like now but it does promote not only learning why the teachers are super fun but also sharing experiences and making a great group of friends, that way they make you want to learn even math, now they do have more benefits and agreements than before, so I think it's a very good option if you're looking for a place to learn this language.
Tomas Taco Quispe: It is my workplace
Jhojan Lerma: It has a good way of teaching the English language, the teachers in general are very good, sometimes you can have problems with the schedules as there are not enough students to cover said schedule, some classrooms are not very comfortable but despite all that, it is a good place to learn not only English but culture as well.
Cristell Granados Gordillo: They have to give vacations and on the days that are declared holidays, take them into account, it is very unfair for the students that everyone has a holiday and they don't, when there is a strike that classes are suspended, young people are in great danger, young people they cannot be willing to this danger. I am very angry and disappointed in the work they are doing. I hope they take it into account.
Luis Eduardo Aymara Huacallo: It is a good place to learn to speak English, as well as having very good cultural events every week.

Helping Overcome Obstacles Peru (HOOP): what do users think?
luci apaza ramos: many nice things
Estefanía Núñez: Working for the community and helping kids fulfill their dreams is a great experience and very rewarding
Aimee Holt: HOOP, like some other organizations internationally, *charges you* to volunteer your time for them. It costs $250 USD to volunteer with them, which is about a months minimum wage salary here. Algo huele mal. If you're looking for an opportunity to volunteer in Arequipa, or anywhere in South America, be aware there are many, many free options. A quick Google search will help you find them.
Michelle Cartier-Archambault: Where to start? I only have positive things to day about this NGO. Even though HOOP is not very big, it still makes a huge impact on the community they are working with. All of the staff genuinly care about making a difference and this dedication also touches the volunteers that come to help! It was a life changing experience for me. The NGO is perfectly transparent and well structured. New ideas and suggestions are always welcomed and everyone is able to find it's place to help in their most efficient way. I could go on and on about why HOOP is awesome but the best thing you can do is check it out yourself. I highly recommend volunteering with them. Believe me, you won't regret it.
Julianne Ezra: This is an organised and immensely rewarding NGO to volunteer for. I started as a teacher for 3 months and loved it so much I'm now a founding trustee of the UK fundraising branch - Helping Overcome Obstacles Peru UK. It was certainly a life changing experience. HOOP has had a clear positive impact on the community of Flora Tristan and continues to grow its activities based on what the people genuinely need. The children are gorgeous and the English school is such an integral part of their lives. The lively playground after classes is great fun and the glorious climate of Arequipa is the perfect backdrop with its stunning blue skies and volcano horizon. Don't let the joining fee put you off, it's your guarantee that this is a bona fide organisation that is genuinely making a difference. Enjoy!
Jimmy Quicara: I'm a Arequipan guy living now in Vancouver, I've read the news today on 24h that Melania is going to be part of a challenge to raise funds for a non-profit.I wanted to give you all a big thanks for your work, effort and compassion you show to improve children's life there.I feel identified and humbled because I was grown there and now live here, and now these two places are connected because of your actions.Thank you again, you help create a better world, I wish you the best.

Casa Museo Mario Vargas Llosa: what do users think?
Agustín López Daneri: The hours are wrong, they say they close at 3:00 p.m., but if you go at 2:30 p.m. they don't serve you anymore
Ornella: Museo interattivo. Interamente in spagnolo, ma si capisce.
Cecilia Quiroz Dueñas: The house is beautiful, there are spaces that need maintenance, a paint touch-up. The visit is quite enjoyable with the videos and holograms. The free visit that I attended, poorly organized, they called us at 10 and it started almost at 11.One of the ladies in charge, I think she is regional government staff, complained about the number of people making us feel uncomfortable. These types of actions are out of place, if there is a problem and attention must be drawn, it must be done internally and not involve visitors or tourists.

Jose Corrales: 100% recommended 👍🏽
Victor Rivas: oh nice I recommend it, it is an inevitable place on your visit to Arequipa.
Miguel Pacheco: We went with my family to see the museum, when we arrived the doorman asked us where do they come from? I replied: from Lima, and he replied: oh then there is no service. we couldn't get in
Jorge Alberto Ocaña Diaz: A museum that I recommend.
Fanny Yuliana Chuquilin Castañeda: Awesome themed and interactive place with interesting and nostalgic information.
Mimi Amaru Illari: A museum that interacts with you. It is divided into several rooms that represent stages of the writer's life. The funny thing is that MVLL was born and lived in this house for only one year. In each room there is an audiovisual presentation accompanied by the interpretation of the guide, which was great. He explained everything to us in detail and clarity and with a lot of enthusiasm, which makes the visit even more pleasant. He took photos of us and encouraged us to interact with the space. The entrance costs 20 soles per person and from my own experience I can say that it is worth it. There you live a unique experience. I recommend it to each individual interested in the author, his life and work, but also to each one who wants to know more about Arequipa's history.
Pixelsoft José Montoya: Visited on Weekday Wait time No wait Reservation recommended Not sureMore
Flavio Andre Garces Heredia: I would like to write a fuller review of the experience of going to the museum, but the terrible attitude of the reception of the museum was enough to convince me not to invest my time in learning more about one of my favorite authors.
Erita Mostacero: Excellent representation of the life of Mario Vargas Llosa.
Mildred Gallegos: Interactive museum, the setting and the stories transport you to each of the stages of Mario Vargas Llosa's life... the entire tour with the explanations lasts a little over an hour... I loved being able to take time to visit it . Entry costs/20
Lucina Váquez Miranda: It's wonderful ooooo I wish I had more support from the government. It is unmissable.

PATTY CH.A.: It is a mystical and very beautiful place. Our Peru 100pre has something that surprises us.I recommend that you go and remember that every day we learn something 100pre.
Ornella: Da vedere assolutamente. Oltre alla Vergine, molti manufatti perfettamente conservati.Ottima guida.

Neshama Rakofsky: Definitely recommend this tour. We did the tour in English with a fantastic guide named Maria. Super interesting artifacts and the stories are just incredible. Maria was so knowledgeable and welcoming of questions, she is so passionate about the information it's more like listening to a story than to a guided museum tour. The whole thing only takes about 45 mins. I'm not generally a tour OR museum person, but I actually enjoyed this. Great experience
María Luz Marín: I loved the detailed and precise information from the guide. We learned a lot about child sacrifice in ancient Peru and the circumstances in which Juanita was found. A recommendation, the place is kept cold to preserve the archaeological remains and even more so in the section where Juanita is. Bring something to cover yourself with. It is forbidden to take photos or record videos inside the exhibition halls.
Gomez Addams: Only let you enter if you sign up for a guided tour which I was uninterested in. For such a small museum it hardly seems necessary. So, no, I’ll pass.
María Belén Chipana: Excellent! 5 national soles, over five years old pay 3 soles for the entrance and voluntary tip to the guide. Everything on display is original and we were lucky to see the Juanita mummy. Can't take photos
mahdy faiz: The museum is small but have one mummy and only few things worth seeing. However, you can only visit with a guide (additional fee on top of the 25 sol entrance). The guided tour feels rushed and you cannot always hear the guide well enough. Not worth the time nor money
Luke Costa: A lot of negative reviews on here regarding the cost etc which almost made us not go. However, we are glad we did.Firstly, the reason it's cheaper for Peruvians is because it's their heritage, and its only right that its cheaper for them.Secondly, we were sceptical about the guide, however it really enhanced the experience. They covered all the areas of information that were written around artefacts and also gave additional info. The tip is at your discretion as well.Would 100% recommend, incredibly interesting and informative.
Pascal Burgard: Expensive relative to the wealth of information provided. I really expected to learn much more in this museum.
Mark Webster: Really disappointing. As mentioned in other reviews it’s compulsory to have a guided tour. When we arrived and were told this we politely asked if we could go around without a guide. The man in the desk immediately ignored us and started talking to another couple behind us. Incredibly rude. Half the tour is a 20min video with terrible sound quality. The guided tour was rushed and ruined the experience.Note that the museum is sponsored by the Catholic university and is therefore biased. We recommend doing some Quechua guided tours to get the real local history before attending.
Randall Marx: Great place to visit if you have interest in archaeology or Incan culture. They offer tours in English and SpanishVisited on Weekend Wait time No wait Reservation recommended No …More
Edwin Aparicio: Visit the mummy Juanita
Juan Carlos Medina: Nice museum of the Santa María Catholic University, small but very interesting, the museum staff is super attentive and helpful, the guide is very charismatic and knowledgeable about the subject. Seeing the lady of Ampato is an incredible experience, it is worth the trip! The entrance for nationals is 5 soles. One block from the main square of Arequipa. Go on your visit to this beautiful city. Highly recommended!
Zoltán Király: Huanitát mindenképp érdemes megnézni ha valaki Arequipába látogat
Belissa Salinas Najarro: Highly recommended, the place is adapted in a very suitable way so that optimal conservation is achieved.
Mario Pérez Consuelo: Visited on Weekend Wait time 10–30 min Reservation recommended NoMore
Sour: Good place and the guide is very friendly, only he asks you for a tip, instead of being something voluntary.
